Episode 19: Abortion Debate Continues

On July 8th when President Biden signed an executive order protecting access to abortion services he referenced a story published on July 1st in the Indianapolis Star about a 10y year old rape victim who had to travel to the state to receive an abortion after the procedure had been outlawed after 6 weeks in the state of Ohio due to a trigger law which went into effect after the repeal of Roe v. Wade. Immediate some members of media began questioning whether this 10 year old victim even existed; unfortunately the tragedy was too real, and the alleged rapist (an illegal immigrant) was arrested on July 12th. This tragic story highlights the importance for legal immigration and a controlled border but also the necessity for safe and legal abortion services and for those procedures to be a decision between healthcare providers and their patients, particularly in the most tragic of circumstances like these.
